National Cherry Blossom Festival

The National Cherry Blossom Festival an annual celebration that will be held this year in Washington D.C. from March 20 through April 14. Although the festival is already under way, there are some great activites going on in the Alexandria area that are perfect for viewing the gorgeous cherry blossoms.

The festival commemorates the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo’s mayor to Washington D.C. in 1912. It has grown over the years from a group of American school children reenacting the original planting, to including a diverse activity schedule centered around the annual blossoming of the trees.

Although there will be a wealth of activities scheduled across D.C., we would like to focus on a couple that begin right here in our backyard: Blossoms by Bike River Ride and View the National Cherry Blossoms by Water.
